Infrared point-level sensing with no moving parts
OPTICALInfrared point-level sensing with no moving parts
SMD's optical liquid level sensors use infrared light refraction through a polished prism tip to detect the presence or absence of liquid at a precise point. When the prism is dry, total internal reflection returns light to the detector — when wetted, the refractive index changes and the signal drops. The result is a fast, reliable switch with no moving parts, no calibration, and no sensitivity to foam or turbulence.
